How WarpSpeed works and how to run it

Initial setup

After the installer finishes, the console walks you through four steps: the IPv4 pool and routes, the optional IPv6 pool, security options (client isolation and DNS protection), and the WireGuard port. Changing these later renumbers devices, so settle them first.

Licenses

Every server has an id. Register it with your account from the console's License page to receive a license for the plan you choose. Servers check in with warpspeedvpn.com once an hour; a lapsed license keeps the VPN running but blocks new users and devices until it is renewed.

Users and devices

Administrators add users by email. Each user signs in to the console to add their own devices and download configurations. On the Business plan, connect a SAML identity provider from Settings to provision users automatically.

Updates

Servers check for a new release every few hours and install it in the maintenance window you set, verifying the download and rolling back if the new version fails to start. You can also update on demand from Settings.

Backups

Everything lives in the data directory you chose at install time. Run warpspeed backup for a consistent copy of the database, and keep the tls directory so the certificate does not need to be reissued after a restore.

Support

Email support@warpspeedvpn.com with your server id and a description of the problem.
